Russ Eaglin will complete his third and final year as HIB Commandant at the installation of new HIB Commandant, Bud Albright, on April 13th. Originally intending to serve only two years, Commandant Eaglin stepped up for a third year when necessity called. Eaglin went above and beyond the call of duty by not only fulfilling the demanding requirements of Commandant, but he also attended other veteran activities and participated in virtually all Marine support functions. The time, heart and treasure he poured into his responsibilities were immense but he never complained and was always willing to do more. This is not the end of Eaglin’s Marine activities. He still holds posts in HIB, MODD, the Central Indiana Marine Foundation; will be assuming duties as the new Scuttlebutt Editor; and was recently appointed as Indiana’s Liaison to the National Marine Corps Museum by Governor Daniels. Eaglin truly lives his motto, “Semper Fidelis is branded on your heart and demonstrated in your actions.” |
